**Key Responsibilities...**

**Lab Co-ordinator Duties**:

- **Resource Coordination**:

- Coordinate the ordering, receipt, and inventory management of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
- Maintain an organised inventory system, ensuring all materials are properly labelled and stored.
- Work with vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of laboratory supplies.
- **Safety and Compliance**:

- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain up-to-date safety documentation and assist with safety audits.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Assist in preparing reports on laboratory operations, including inventory levels and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure proper documentation of experiments and results.
- **Support Activities**:

- Provide administrative support to the laboratory team, including scheduling meetings and managing communication.
- Assist with the coordination of laboratory maintenance and equipment calibration schedules.
- Support laboratory staff in various tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations

**Protein Production Duties**:

- ** Fermentation and Downstream Processing**
- Perform protein expression using various expression systems including _E. coli _and yeast.
- Conduct downstream processing for proteins expressed from fermentation.
- Maintain and optimize protocols for protein expression and downstream processing.
- Prepare and manage reagents and consumables for protein production activities.

**Instrumentation and Equipment**:

- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of equipment used in protein production, including troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Calibrate instruments to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- **Research and Development**:

- Assist in the development and optimisation of protein production processes to improve process efficiency, consistency and yield.
- Participate in research projects, contributing to the design and execution of experiments.
- Analyse experimental data and provide insights for process improvements.
- **Quality Control**:

- Prepare biological samples for QA/QC analysis, ensuring accurate measurements and proper handling.
- Conduct tests to evaluate enzyme performance, including enzyme activity assays and protein quantification using methods such as colorimetric assays, SDS-PAGE, and HPLC.
- Ensure all analyses are conducted in accordance with standard operating procedures and quality guidelines.
- Report any deviations from quality standards and assist in troubleshooting and corrective action

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Hands on experience in fermentation and downstream processing techniques.
- Experience in protein expression, purification, and characterisation processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience working within cross-functional teams.
