What the role is
We're looking for a Trainee or Experienced Soil Technician to join our Canberra team. Whether you're new to the industry or already have experience in construction materials testing, this is a great opportunity to contribute to vital infrastructure projects across the region.
This is a hands-on, practical role that will see you working both on construction sites and in our laboratory.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, practical work, is dependable and loves learning by doing. No prior experience is needed, just a good attitude and a willingness to follow procedures with care. For experienced applicants, there are opportunities to step into more advanced work, mentoring or reporting responsibilities.
About you

- Are safety-conscious, dependable, and proactive;
- Can follow procedures accurately and consistently;
- Hold a current Australian driver's licence;
- Hold a White Card and/or Nuclear Gauge licence – highly regarded, but we can help you obtain these if needed.
- Previous experience in a soils or concrete lab, construction or civil field testing is highly desirable for experienced applicants.
Training and Development
- On the job training with experienced mentors;
- Career development, including yearly reviews and aligned pay progression;
- Company paid external course in laboratory operations.
What's in it for you

- Discount offers on your shopping through our Douglas Good Deals;
- Coaching and mentoring from some of the industry's top leaders;
- Stable, long-term role in a growing and reputable organisation;
- Be part of meaningful, local infrastructure projects.
Application should include
- a brief cover letter demonstrating how you would fulfil this role;
