About the Role
Reporting to the Project Lead, Independent Reviews, the Principal Adviser, Independent Reviews will be part of a small and dynamic team leading the audit of recommendations from phase 1 of the independent review into workplace equality in Ambulance Victoria (the review).
The role will be responsible for undertaking leading practice research and developing policy guidance and recommendations to support and audit workplace reform, human rights, and equality.
The project team reports directly to the Commissioner and sits alongside the Policy and Legal Branch within the Commission.
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Provide authoritative, expert legal and policy advice in conducting reviews, including the ability to support planning, budgeting, and project management.
- Implement leading practice trauma-informed approaches to research in order to collect and analyse data and other information to inform the conduct of the review.
- Conduct, critically analyse and report on complex, sensitive and best practice research, including through:
- undertaking desktop research and analysis of documents and other evidence
- conducting expert interviews
- supporting the design and delivery of focus groups
- undertaking qualitative data analysis
- Supervise team members as required and work closely with the Project Lead of Independent Reviews and members of the Commissions Leadership Team to ensure the review team completes a high quality, publishable final report detailing the key audit findings and recommendations.

About you
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- A strong working knowledge of the Equal Opportunity Act, as well as discrimination, sexual harassment, victimisation and bullying, or capacity to quickly acquire this knowledge
- Experience conducting reviews, inquiries, investigations, audits or other complex policy and research projects to effect systemic change and advance equality
- Experience supervising junior staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully in a dynamic, fast-paced, and supportive team.
**Qualifications**:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or commensurate professional experience.
- Must be a Barrister or a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria or eligible for admission.
