The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Clinical Governance Officer to provide a critical role in Justice Health.
About the business unit
Justice Health's objective is to improve the health of adults and young people in Victorian custodial settings. As a business unit of the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Justice Health is responsible for overseeing the delivery of health, mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services to persons in Victoria's adult and youth justice facilities by contracted service providers.
Justice Health sets the policy and standards for health care in all Victorian prisons and youth justice precincts and monitors and reviews the performance of health service providers. Justice Health is also responsible for facilitating an integrated approach to health service planning and service delivery, leading health prevention and promotion activities, and facilitating the release of health information to community health care providers, legal representatives, and individuals.
About the role
The Clinical Governance Officer (CGO) will be primarily responsible for monitoring and reviewing the performance of the health and mental health service providers. The CGO will conduct regular location-based audits of health and rehabilitation services and will provide expert and authoritative clinical advice on solutions to highly complex and sensitive issues to ensure improved quality of services in this service area.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Contribute to the development of sound clinical governance and risk management frameworks that foster a culture of accountability, whilst encouraging innovation and problem solving, for health service providers
- Provide clinical advice and direction in clinical risk management to ensure accountability for clinical practice and patient safety
- Implement and maintain data systems to analyse and record health statistics and undertake audits, clinical reviews and assessments, as required

About you

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- Demonstrated experience in a highly sensitive and complex health environment
- Demonstrated experience in a quality focused role coupled with a thorough understanding of Risk Management principles.

A tertiary qualification in the health industry and eligibility to practice under the Health Professions Registration Act is required.

This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

- Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
