**About the team**
The Information Governance Team which sits within the broader Corporate Services Branch of the FWO’s Corporate Group.
The FWO strives towards best practice in the way it responds to information requests and protects our customers’ and employees’ personal information. The FWO is also keen to develop a more accountable and business-focussed information management environment and culture.
The Information Governance Team is responsible for delivering initiatives aimed at managing the multiple challenges that the growth of digital information presents, including privacy and security risks.
The team delivers the FWO’s information management functions and projects, which includes a range of information management initiatives, the development and implementation of digital recordkeeping strategies as well as the Agency’s information access/Freedom of Information (FOI) and privacy functions.
**About the role**
In the role of Information Governance Officer (Archivist), you will support the Team’s work in ensuring the FWO complies with its obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, the Archives Act 1983, the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Government Agencies Privacy Code. You will responsible for the day to day management of the agency’s archival program.
**Typical Duties**
The duties of this role include, however, are not limited to:
- Assess the FWO’s information assets for significance to identify items required to be transferred to national archives
- Liaise with National Archives of Australia (NAA) and internal stakeholders to gain agreement and coordinate the transfer of the FWO’s information assets
- Make recommendations on information access
- Provide positive and active support across the FWO to assist in the delivery of the Information Government Team’s work referred to in the business plan of the Corporate Services Branch
- Work with key internal stakeholders and building productive relationships to deliver and maximise the opportunities presented through the privacy, information management and information access functions.
