Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.

We address the needs of people experiencing mental health issues, the mental health sector, the justice sector and the general community. These services are delivered through inpatient services at Thomas Embling Hospital, community services through the Community Forensic Mental Health Service and prison-based services at several locations. This position will be based at **Thomas Embling Hospital **and will be required to work across all Forensicare sites.

**About the Role**:
The Occupational Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for leading, facilitating and implementing Forensicare Health Safety and Wellbeing Programs and Services. The role assists the Health Safety and Wellbeing manager to provide authoritative strategic and specialist advice and guidance regarding the health and wellbeing of staff in line with the Forensicare Health Safety and Wellbeing plan.

**Duties**:

- Advise on, develop and provide resources to assist managers and employees to, Idetify and report Hazards, Conduct Risk Assessments into physical, capitol works, plant and psychosocial hazards, Support Leaders and Health and Safety Representatives work through risk assessments and controls
- Support the ongoing review, development and implementation of Occupational Health and Saftey projects, policies, procedures, training and guides
- Contribute to the development of an effective and inclusive Occupational Health and Safety culture across the organisation
- Support the Health and Safety Representatives [HSR] by responding to concerns or complaints
- Coodinate quarterly forums with a learning and professional development focus
- Pariticapte in Critical Incident investigations
- Expected to operate between normal business hours however be flexible to respond to emergency Occupational Health and Safety critical incident support needs as directed by the Health Safety and Wellbeing Manager which may occasionally occur outside of hours
- Coordinate as a member and make recommendations to Health Safety and Wellbeing committees to help Forensicare maintain oversight and governance of all Occupational Health and Safety related programs and initiatives
- Coordinate, deliver and maintain oversight of effective Occupational Health and Safety induction, Riskman reporting and incident investigation training programs for staff and managers
- Liaise with managers, stakeholders and providers to ensure the timley delivery of Occupational Health Safety and Wellbeing support and early interventions.

**About You**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in consultation to influence, and engaging at all levels of an organisation
- Experience in interpreting stakeholder needs and codesigning balanced score cards, dashboards, or regular reporting
- Demonstratable experience in OHS Investigations
- Capability to review policies and procedures in consultation with the workforce
- Hold qualifications and experience in organisational training and assessment
- Demonstratable experience in the development, implementation and coordination of OHS improvement projects

- Tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety and Wellbeing and demonstrated experience in managing and addressing occupational health and safety in the workplace
- Experience in supporting frontline service delivery staff who are exposed to Occupational Violence and Aggression
