**About the opportunity**

This is a rare, outstanding opportunity to lead one of the largest and newest Children’s Hospitals in Australia.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and based at the Monash Children’s Hospital at Clayton, the General Manager will partner with the Monash Children’s Program Medical Director and will be jointly accountable for leading and managing the operations of the Monash Children’s Program and Monash Children’s Hospital at Monash Health

Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) is part of Monash Health, Victoria’s largest healthcare service and one of only four accredited Academic Health Science Centres in Australia. We operate a network of pediatric healthcare services across three sites, comprising our main campus in Clayton (co-located with Monash Medical Centre) and satellite sites at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals. Providing specialised, innovative, family-centred care, we have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading pediatric services in Surgery, Rehabilitation, Oncology, Paediatric Intensive Care Palliative Care and Monash Children’s at home

MCH is also the Victorian Referral Centre for many low-volume and high-complex cases. Our services are linked to an adult service, enabling us to provide transition-of-care as children grow older and are more appropriately cared for by that service.

We care for more than 100, 000 children per year, delivering specialised, innovative, child and family-centred care, and we believe strongly in putting our patients first.

**Role context**

The Children’s Program has an annual operating budget of $69 M and EFT of 560. A number of roles report directly to the General Manager, including 2 Directors of Clinical Operations and Director Paediatric Allied Health

The General Manager will ensure delivery of services within budget, while ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety are maintained. Accountabilities will be achieved by managing risk, patient safety and clinical governance within the Program and ensuring that effective systems are in place to support a consistently high standard of practice.

Key to your success in the role will be the ability to develop relationships with strategic on-site partners and advocates including Starlight Foundation, Kid safe, Monash Children’s Hospital School and Ronald McDonald Charities.

**Your experience and expertise**

You bring extensive clinical leadership experience with a demonstrated understanding of operations in an acute setting. You have effectively developed and implemented a Program strategy and establishment / operational plan that aligns with and supports an organisation’s strategic plan and business priorities a range of stakeholders, delivering performance improvements in quality and safety, patient outcomes, patient satisfaction and employee engagement, and developing leadership enhancement initiatives at all levels.

In addition, you can demonstrate driving excellence in clinical practice, education, and research with a focus on teaching and translational research.

Your highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal skills enable you to influence consultation and negotiation, and to readily build meaningful working relationships. You value the contribution of your team, and your personal style and effective leadership skills enable you to lead, coach develop people to perform to their potential.

With superior communication skills, you are a high achiever. Operationally savvy, and recognised as an effective and influential people leader, you will relish the chance to make a significant contribution to the Health Services Executive Committee and when presenting, engaging, and influencing at Board level.
