**The Opportunity**
Success in this role will see our children and young people make meaningful connections within their community, develop independent life skills and further their pathways in education and or employment.
We know that this can't be done in isolation. This role will provide critical support in helping young people in Residential Care identify and achieve their goals by engaging with external stakeholders in community services, education and employment partnerships and a range of other community connections to harness their expertise.
**Key Responsibilities**
The Community Engagement Worker provides critical support in both identifying and achieving the goals of a child or young person in residential care across several key life domains including:

- Safety and self-care
- Building resilience and strategies to manage emotional regulation
- Formulation of life skills to transition to adulthood
- Education and employment pathways
- Strengthening a sense of identity, inclusivity and connection
- Improved sense of self-esteem and optimism for their future

This position will hold a caseload of up to 15 and will be directly working with and providing outreach support to children and young people in Residential Care. This role will work flexibly and will include weekend work from time to time and outreach.
**About You**
- You hold previous experience with working with young people with the ability to achieve positive outcomes through strengths-based engagement and an outcomes-focussed case management approach.
- You have sound knowledge of the nature of protective issues, homelessness, trauma and attachment, disability and the implications for their chronological, emotional and behavioural development.
- You are a strong communicator with the capacity to advocate, engage and negotiate with relevant stakeholders including family and government and community sector representatives.
