**Wellbeing Support Officer - Position Description**

**Part-time**:1 day per week during school terms (funded position commencing in Term 3, 2025 until December 2027)

- **THE ROLE**_

Tuntable Falls Community School is a child safe, independent parent-governed school established in 1981. Our children learn and play in the pristine natural rainforest environment of Tuntable Falls Valley, bordering the World Heritage listed Nightcap National Park, and close to the vibrant diversity of Nimbin village in Northern NSW.

The School Wellbeing Officer is a holistic wellbeing support role within our beautiful Primary School at Tuntable Falls. _**The role of the Student Wellbeing Officer is to support the emotional well-being of students.**_

**Applicants must**:

- hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check

**Qualifications**:

- hold a minimum **qualification or qualifications,** equivalent to or higher than, a Certificate IV, and this qualification or qualifications must include competencies in both:

- mental health and making appropriate referrals; and
- providing pastoral care, and/or working with youth
- Persons holding a formal qualification (Certificate IV or above) in a related field (eg, Theology/ Nursing/Policing, etc), which includes components in dealing with mental health and client referrals, are deemed to meet the minimum qualifications.
- Teachers, social workers, counsellors or psychologists in training are also deemed to meet the minimum qualifications.
- Applicants with a teaching degree meet the qualifications but will not be remunerated as a teacher.
- **SELECTION CRITERIA**_
- Experience in providing support to children and/or young people to address social and emotional needs
- Experience in mentoring children and/or young people
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills with the capacity to work effectively both independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary Learning Support team
- Demonstrated capacity to display initiative in developing programs and activities that complement the school's wellbeing program
- Ability to develop and implement a range of small group and 1:1 mental health and wellbeing activities aimed at improving student mental health and wellbeing.
- Proven capacity to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents. This includes highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to support teachers in identifying and developing educational, social and emotional programs to support children and young people who are vulnerable or at risk
- Ability to liaise with community service organisations
- This position is part of the _**National School Wellbeing Program**_ _(NSWP) and is an initiative funded by the Commonwealth Government to support the wellbeing of Australian school students through chaplaincy and/or student wellbeing services. The program runs in government, Catholic and independent schools throughout Australia. All student wellbeing officers who are funded under the NSWP are to_
- complete a three-hour online professional learning package (PLP) aimed at responding to and preventing cyberbullying. _

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 30 months

Pay: $28.00 - $42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 7 per week
