Key tasks and responsibilities of the role (your contribution)
- Where undertaking team leader duties, supervise staff work allocations, performance, planning and review as required under DAF HR policy and procedures and where team leader duties are not undertaken, provide mentoring and advisory services to colleagues and more junior staff
- Lead the analysis of policy options addressing either critical issues or endemic problems
- Contribute substantively to the drafting of appropriate policy documents, frameworks and options to support the organisation's policy position
- Design, implement and review communication and stakeholder engagement plans and processes
- Engage and collaborate with a range of relevant policy stakeholders across all stages of the policy development, implementation and review process to facilitate effective consultation and communication and to support, and where required, advocate, the organisation's policy position
- Review existing policy and contribute to the drafting of new policy recommendations and proposals aligned to government priorities
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholder consultation into the development of policy recommendations, instruments and solutions
- Provide specialised and appropriately modulated advice to managers and staff on complex policy matters
- Maintain accurate records of policy advice, including key discussions and decisions
