**About us
**Youth Justice is a dynamic organisation that supervises and cares for young people in the community and in detention centres in NSW. The division provides diversionary and community-based services, as well as custodial services in Youth Justice centres for young people on remand and on control order.

**Your role**

Provide front line services to young people at a Kempsey Youth Justice Community Office. This involves providing a range of quality externally and internally sourced services to detainees, youth justice conferencing clients, victims of crime and court mandated young people and their families.

**What you’ll do**

As part of Cobham Youth Justice Centre, you will
- Undertake case management activities that target appropriate areas of need/risk to the young person re-offending. This includes case planning, organising and facilitating case conferences and delivering offence focused intervention programs to young people.
- Work collaboratively with Youth Justice staff such as other J Caseworkers, Youth Officers and Psychologists, along with a range of government and non-government stakeholders to connect young people to services appropriate to their individual case plan and monitor the progress of the young person.
- Work closely with courts, parole authorities, review panels and legal professionals and provide clear and concise advice, briefings, reports and other formal written communication for internal and external stakeholders.

You will also
- Work as part of a multi-disciplined team that aims to reduce re-offending of young people, enhance their functioning and support reintegration into their families and the community.
- Work to influence change in the overrepresentation of Aboriginal young people in the justice system
- Build strong relationships with partner agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections
- Use cultural knowledge to help inform and shape service delivery
- Provide an Aboriginal perspective when working within your team and with other stakeholders

**What we’re looking for**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (diploma or higher) in social work, welfare, psychology, criminology, education or related field or equivalent experience.
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Current NSW Working with Children Clearance for paid employment.
- It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants are fully vaccinated and able to provide acceptable proof of vaccination status.
- Aboriginality
- Documented verification of Aboriginality.

The Department will accept proof of Aboriginality confirming the following:

- You are an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent.
- You identify as being Aboriginal; and
- You are accepted as such by the community in which you live

An acceptable form of documented verification is a “Confirmation of Aboriginality” letter, provided to you by a local Aboriginal organisation that includes a common seal from that organisation.
