Digital Portfolio and Operations Lead

The Digital Portfolio and Operations Lead is a critical senior leadership role responsible for optimising the delivery and governance of HCF’s digital portfolio, contributing to the critical priority of building a Digital First Enterprise. Reporting to the General Manager - Digital Enterprise, this role will oversee a portfolio management function, develop and maintain a comprehensive digital capability framework, and lead the establishment of the Digital Academy to upskill and empower HCF's digital teams.

This role will also ensure operational excellence across the digital portfolio, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement in digital product delivery. The Digital Portfolio and Operations Lead will implement a robust reporting and governance structure to provide clear visibility into digital portfolio performance, driving informed decision-making and continuous portfolio optimisation.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a strategic and results-driven Digital Portfolio and Operations Lead to join our Digital team. In this key leadership role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the planning, prioritisation, and governance of our digital portfolio, ensuring alignment with HCF’s business strategy and driving delivery efficiency across programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities- Lead the management and delivery of the digital portfolio roadmap, ensuring strategic alignment and effective prioritisation of initiatives- Develop and implement robust portfolio governance frameworks, reporting, and performance metrics- Collaborate closely with Digital, IT, and Business stakeholders to manage dependencies, risks, and resource planning- Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement in digital delivery processes, tools, and practices- Oversee digital budget tracking, vendor engagement, and resourcing across portfolio streams- Support senior leadership with data-driven insights and reporting to enable informed decision-making

About You

You’re a highly organised, collaborative leader with a strong background in digital portfolio or program management. You’re comfortable navigating complexity, influencing stakeholders, and driving operational maturity in a fast-paced environment.

To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Digital Operations Leadership: Extensive experience in senior leadership roles overseeing digital portfolios, operations, product and design functions. Proven track record in managing operational excellence across digital teams and initiatives.- Digital Academy Leadership: Strong experience in the development, implementation, and management of learning and development programs, ideally within a digital transformation context. Experience creating competency frameworks and career pathways.- Portfolio Management Expertise: Strong background in managing large-scale digital portfolios, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance reporting. Ability to provide clear visibility into the status and outcomes of digital initiatives.- Product and Design Operations: Deep understanding of Digital Product Ops and Design Ops practices, with experience in optimising workflows, collaboration, and delivery processes for cross-functional teams.- Agile Delivery: Expertise in agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and Lean, and experience enabling digital teams to work within iterative and continuous delivery frameworks.- Data-Driven Leadership: Proven ability to establish and manage reporting systems and dashboards to track portfolio and operational performance. Experience in using data to inform decisions, drive improvements, and communicate outcomes effectively.- Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage and influence senior leadership and key stakeholders across the organisation. Strong communication skills to ensure alignment and transparency in the delivery of digital initiatives.- Compliance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of regulatory, privacy, and compliance requirements, particularly in the healthcare and insurance sectors.

Desirable- Digital Transformation Experience: Background in leading or supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives, particularly within highly regulated environments.- Certifications in Agile/Lean: Relevant certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), SAFe, or Lean Six Sigma.- Health and Insurance Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the healthcare and insurance sectors, including regulatory requirements and operational challenges.- Tools and Platforms Expertise: Familiarity with digital tools that support product management, agile operations, and design workflows (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Aha, Asana, Miro).
