**Job Description**:
**Wood Mackenzie’s Carbon Management group profile**
This role will serve as part of Wood Mackenzie’s CCUS research team, in the Carbon Management group. This is an excellent opportunity to join a strong, global team and make a major contribution to the energy transition.
The Carbon Management group is at the nexus of Wood Mackenzie’s energy transition research, drawing upon multiple commodity areas. The group’s work helps our clients understand market trends across several of the critical technologies and markets enabling the energy transition. Coverage in the group includes emissions, carbon markets, CCUS, abatement technologies, and scenario modelling.
Our customers span many commodities and value chains, and include industrial emitters, project developers, financiers, governments and technology providers.
Carbon Management, and the CCUS team within it, are growing quickly as we help to drive the pace and scale of the energy transition and to serve different customer segments with integrated analysis.
In the CCUS team we build cost and valuation models, interpret policies, track market activity, assess CO2 storage potential, evaluate technologies and build deployment forecasts. We have also launched the Lens CCUS analytics platform to help our customers make the best-informed decisions in this market.
Key internal collaborations within Wood Mackenzie are with our expert groups on subsurface, fiscal systems, energy transition scenarios and sectors to which CCUS is a potential abatement technology (upstream, LNG, refining, hydrogen, chemicals, power, and metals).
**Role Purpose**
This is a new role, responsible for leading and developing our CCUS coverage in the Asia Pacific region.
APAC has many interesting and dynamic developments in CCUS and decarbonization generally and we expect this to become a busy emerging market. Therefore, this is an important and high-impact regional leadership role.
You will join the Carbon Management leadership team, representing the regional business, and will also hold some line-management responsibilities.
Your contributions will be across three main areas:
- Leading and developing our regional CCUS content
- Managing and developing individuals in a small team
- Informing our product offering and supporting our commercial growth through industry engagement.
You will come with expertise and the ability to strongly contribute to CCUS content development. This may be in above-ground topics (e.g. valuations, understanding business models, policies and technology development) or below-ground topics (e.g. the technical evaluation of CO2 storage sites in depleted oil and gas fields and saline aquifers). Whichever is your background area, you will be expected to speak to the whole CCUS value chain with high credibility, as our regional lead on the topic.
You will be the go-to person within APAC in Wood Mackenzie to support internal stakeholders on CCUS. This may extend to some wider Carbon Management initiatives, as the group requires. You will also become a recognized and trusted advisor to our customers as they form and deliver carbon management strategies.
You will manage and develop a small research team. This is currently one Research Analyst, though this is expected to grow and you will be responsible for informing team structure. As a manager, you will foster an open and dynamic team environment where team members can contribute, thrive and develop. We aim to build a team where diversity of experience and thought are valued; you will be someone who believes in this and understands that working across different geographies requires cultural appreciation.
**Main Responsibilities**
- Drive the direction of regional content and industry engagement in APAC
- Produce reports and insights as part of our Lens CCUS Service
Review and edit other team members’ produced work and provide coaching and development feedback to them
- Collaborate with SMEs and internal stakeholders across Woo
