The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) is looking for an APS5 Case Manager to join their flexible and dynamic team.

ASBFEO is an independent federal statutory body that partners with the Treasury for back of office services. As with all Government staff, all ASBFEO staff are required to adhere to the values and conduct of the Australian Public Service (APS).

**About the role**:
The focus of the Assistance team is on addressing the challenges and issues faced by individual small and family businesses. We provide businesses with relevant information and help them to better understand their disputes. We provide guidance on resolution, including alternative dispute resolution. Case Managers are responsible for all aspects of a request for assistance, including:

- Providing direct assistance to small businesses and family enterprises by actively managing and driving cases raised with the office.
- Conducting research and analysis and providing high level advice on complex matters affecting small businesses.
- Consulting and collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, including but not limited to Commonwealth government departments and agencies, state and territory agencies, private enterprises, peak industry bodies and individuals on small business and family enterprise matters.
- Representing the Office at meetings, conferences and seminars.
- Supporting and engaging with the strategic/future direction of the Office.

**Desirable qualifications and experience**:

- Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field, including but not limited to: Accounting, management information systems or other relevant field.
- Relevant business/work experience in the provision of assistance to Small Businesses and stakeholders.
- Small business experience, peak industry body and/or government relationship experience.

**Assist**:
The office of the ASBFEO understands the challenges facing small business owners and is available to provide access to dispute resolution services for those who may be involved in a disagreement, so they can try and find a solution to their problem, without having to resort to costly litigation.

**Advocate**:
There are a number of different activities the Ombudsman may conduct in fulfilling the role of small business advocate. Broadly these include: conduct inquiries and research; work with other arms of government; contribute to other inquiries; and promote good business practice.

**Inform**:
The Office proactively informs Government and public debate on the trends and economic impacts that effect small and family businesses. The teams work together to gather, help identify and interpret patterns.
