Caring Approach is a dynamic, vibrant, supportive, and caring organization.

We provide tailored in-home support and community care for the elderly and people with both physical and intellectual disabilities, along with people needing short-term assistance after being discharged from the hospital.

We are seeking caring and professional individuals to become part of the Caring Approach team to promote independence for people living at home.

Caring Approach currently has available shifts in Canberra ACT, Queanbeyan, NSW & Yass NSW

**Complex Behaviour experience required.**
- Manual Handling
- Complex Mental Health experience.
- Psychosocial Disability
- Challenging Behaviour/Behaviour management.
- Autism
- Showering & Personal Care Assistance
- Person-Centered Approach
- Crisis prevention / management
- Ability to follow PBS strategies
- Ability to support individuals to meet Goals and learn new skills.
- Training provided. CPI (Crisis prevention, behaviour management) formally MAPA.

**General duties include**:
Provide personal care and support to individuals in their own homes, including assistance with showering and bathing.
- Domestic tasks
- Manual Handling
- Food preparation
- Medication Assistance
- activities of daily living and skills building.
- Transport to and from medical appointments and social outings
- Su[porting within 24/7 setting, sleepovers.

**To be successful in this role you will need**:

- An understanding of delivering care in a person-centered way.
- Availability and be reliable & punctual.
- Certificate 111 or above in disability, aged care, and community care.
- the ability to problem-solve and keep strictly to the routine experience in working with people who have complex behaviors, including communication barriers
- Ability to engage positively with a variety of personality types Ability to fulfill shift duties and have excellent time management skills Ability to read and interpret service information
- Ability and understanding of infection control procedures
- Have an appropriate visa to work in Australia
- Current Police check within the last 12 months or willingness to obtain before employment
- WWVP - ACT with NDIS screening.
- Smartphones with the ability to install apps
- 1-year minimum experience delivering positive behaviour support
- Current first aid/CPR certificate
- Drivers license and own fully insured transport
- Have an empathetic and understanding approach to providing care to people with high complex needs
- completion of the NDIS new worker module or willingness to complete it as part of the induction process
- completion of the COVID-19 e-learning module
- Provide Vaccination Certificate.

**Desirable**:

- Experience in working with people to increase their independence
- Certification and or experience in bowel care
- Certification and or experience in medication administration
- Experience in working with people that require manual handling
- Certificate 111 or above in the relevant area A
- ability to implement positive behavior support strategies and an awareness of person-centered active support.
