**The Role**

**_ Are you a 20_**_th_**_ century design specialist with a strong passion and love for design? Look no further than this amazing and rare opportunity to join Australia’s Premier Auction House as their Head of Modern Design._**

Reporting to the CEO, this role assumes sole leadership of the Leonard Joel Modern Design department, including coordinating regular auctions, generating business and growth in the areas of twentieth century and post war design, and offering specialist expertise in the field.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll have multiple touch points internally and externally including, heads of department, photography, marketing managers, graphic artists, casual staff, salon and warehouse and logistics teams, hence your ability to work in a team and build strong, lasting relationships with existing and new clients as well as internal stakeholders, will be critical to your success.

**What will you be doing?**
- Manage auctions with adherence to deadlines, allocated budgets, and overall business objectives;
- Source stock for the department through private and trade vendor relationships, actively seeking to engage new suppliers, guiding clients through all vital stages of consigning, selling and purchasing;
- Conceptualise and implement new initiatives within the market, alongside the CEO, to build brand awareness for Leonard Joel and the Modern Design category;
- Manage valuations including off site, estates, online, and by appointment, determining value and authenticity;
- Coordinate the catalogues, advertisement, and auction calendar with the marketing manager;
- Manage the Modern Design team to ensure appropriate levels of accountability and autonomy, skills, and training.

**What will you bring?**
- Expert knowledge of Australian and international twentieth century furniture and design movements, history, makers, and key pieces, along with awareness of current styles and trends;
- Understanding of visual merchandising disciplines and techniques, to create displays, exhibitions, photo shoot sets, and marketing content;
- Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed targets and budgets;
- Experience managing a team in a fast paced, multi-faceted workplace;
- Hands on approach, physical aspect to the role;
- Solutions driven, natural creativity and passion for people and customer service.
