Position Description - Engineering Manager

Staff reporting to position 9 - Officer maintenance personnel

Financial budget N/A

Purchase Authority $5000 without approval

Purpose of position:
Ensure all maintenance & capital work is performed safely.

Full responsibility for technical/engineering matters.

To maintain plant to a level that enables them to be effective, efficient & safe.

To maintain preventative maintenance program.

Manage capital projects.

Key Accountabilities:
Ensure all maintenance & capital work is performed safely.

Responsible for completing the maintenance & technical items raised via Safety Champion.

Ensure all maintenance employees wear appropriate PPE when required.

Manage maintenance personnel including setting rosters, allocation of tasks, performance reviews, approving leave & organising coverage, and implementing disciplinary actions as required.

Arrange personnel for maintenance work required outside of normal working hours.

Arrange appropriate training for maintenance employees as required.

Directing Somersby maintenance personnel as required.

Maintain plant & equipment so operational activities can be performed effectively & efficiently.

Ensure any maintenance work is performed to appropriate standard relative to the task undertaken.

Optimise the preventative maintenance system (Upkeep) including the allocation of PM tasks.

Maintain the site asset register in Upkeep to reflect all the current assets onsite.

Perform risk assessments (as part of the broader operations team).

Manage & implement the technical & maintenance tasks of any risk assessments that have been performed, or need to be performed on plant & equipment.

Manage the Officer maintenance budget and assist in setting new budgets.

Manage capital projects including the planning, delivery timelines, budgeting, approving invoices and providing progress reports as required.

Purchase plant & services up to your approval level.

Perform incident investigations & provide reports when required.

Lead continuous improvement projects to improve efficiencies.

Assist in the recruitment of new maintenance employees.

Represent the maintenance department at weekly tool box and monthly site meetings.

Assist in the development of any maintenance position descriptions & operating procedures.

Maintain appropriate levels of maintenance spare parts.

Complete paperwork for receiving maintenance items onsite.

Complete expense forms when & as required.

Maintain the workshop in a clean & tidy state.

Assist in maintaining quality accreditations (ie: Feedsafe, HACCP, DAFF, etc..).

Assist in the return to work process for any maintenance employees if required.

Anything else as required by your manager.
