We are looking to grow our team of support workers to ensure that we can provide excellent delivery of supports and maintain assistance for our clients. Lifeful have day & night shifts available for skilled, bright, bubbly and energetic team members to join us in Melton. Regular long shifts - immediate start.
**In the position of support worker, your duties may include however are not limited to**:
- Undertaking domestic duties such as vacuuming, cleaning, laundry, food preparation and shopping.
- Undertaking personal care duties and aid with bathing/showering, hygiene, dressing, grooming, lifting, mobility and other personal care tasks..
- Undertaking respite care duties, when the main care giver requires time out for rest, recreation, appointments or administrative tasks
- Undertaking social support duties both in the client’s home and in the community, this is to be directed towards the clients need for social contact and/or accompaniment in order to participate in community life.
- Undertaking transport duties to enable to client to access community and social activities, and/or medical and specialist appointments.
- Undertaking medication monitoring if required, and in accordance with instructions in the Care Plan, Support Workers may monitor service users taking their medication however are not to administer the medication, only prompt the client in taking their medication unless current with their Medication Training (certificate must be provided).
- Comply with funding contracts, operational guidelines, approved work plans and reporting requirements.
- Maintain time and attendance leave and higher duty records in accordance with LifeFul’s procedures.
**Required Skills**:
- Show a genuine desire to provide the best quality support for people with disability.
- Must be a reliable independent worker as we pride ourselves on our attention to supportive, dependable, and attentive service delivery.
- In good health as many areas of the job require the employee to perform lifting, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, hand gripping, reaching, sitting, and standing duties.
- An understanding of safe work practices, proven experience in the use of appropriate manual handling procedures.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately with, and understand the needs of all clients and their carers from a diverse range of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
- Previous experience working with participants of the NDIS will be highly regarded however is not mandatory for this position.
- Previous employment experience in the health/disability, community services sector is highly desirable.
- Competent skills and knowledge in manual handling including the use of a hoist.
**All applicants to be considered for this role must have or be able to obtain prior to performing any service delivery**:
- A current and valid driver’s license.
- A current First Aid Certificate (and the ability to maintain a current certificate throughout the duration of employment).
- Current vehicle insurance (and the ability to maintain this throughout the duration of employment.
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check at own expense.
- Completion of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards online worker training module.
- Certificate of completion for training in Medication Management.
