We are seeking a fixed term temporary part-time CA3 Pathology Assistant Microbiology for 6 to join our team at Pathology Queensland, Department of Health. This role is responsible to assist in the provision of a high quality, customer focussed pathology microbiology and molecular service by performing data entry, specimen processing and assisting Scientific and technical staff to perform a range of diagnostic tests within the Pathology Queensland Sunshine Coast laboratory. Located in Birtinya the successful applicant will also perform general laboratory duties, including the receipt of specimens and registration of requests into the laboratory information system (basic keyboard/data entry skills). Pathology Queensland (PQ) provides diagnostic pathology services to all Hospital and Health Services (HHS) across metro, regional and remote Queensland, offering laboratory services in the disciplines of: anatomical pathology, chemical pathology, haematology, immunology, microbiology and genomics. PQ also provides an invaluable service to Queenslanders by supporting a coordinated response to incidents and disasters.

**What we are looking for**:

- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of request forms, data entry and of the correct procedures for specimen processing.
- High level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with mínimal supervision after careful instruction.
- Demonstrated experience of the correct procedures for the performance of laboratory tests including processing and setting up techniques within the microbiology and molecular departments.

**Other requirements**:

- It is a condition of employment for this role, for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 as per the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
- It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16): measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), varicella (chicken pox),pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, tuberculosis.
- In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24-hour shift or on-call arrangements.
