**About the opportunity**
BHP is currently offering **Apprenticeships **in Fixed Plant (Mechanical Fitting) and Diesel Fitting. The program is a 2 years training program based at our Perth FutureFit Academy. Apprentices study to complete a full trade qualification (Certificate III).You will be paid while you train at FutureFit Academy and become a qualified maintainer at BHP. These are permanent opportunities, and once successfully completing your studies, you will continue your employment with BHP based at one of our mine sites.

The **Perth **academy is currently offering two types of training programs:

- **Fixed Plant (Mechanical Fitting)**: You will perform basic maintenance on a fixed plant. This could be from inspecting a running plant to a full shutdown situation where you will assist qualified trades people with major repairs or rebuilds. The training involves in learning how to maintain equipment such as Conveyors, Crushers, Screens, Apron Feeders, Chutes and many more.
- **Diesel Fitting**:The training involves in learning how to maintain equipment such as Dump Trucks, Dozers, Graders and Excavators.

**About you**
We’re looking for people from a broad range of backgrounds. Previous maintenance training is not necessary however you will have a genuine interest in fixing, repairing or tinkering.

To set you up for success, you will need:

- A high commitment to safety is a must
- A strong desire to learn and develop a range of new skills
- Motivation to achieve goals & enjoy a mixture of class room and hands-on learning
- Ability to live a safe travelling distance to the training centre - this is not a FIFO/DIDO role (whilst studying at the academy).
- Ability to attend a roster that rotates across early mornings, evenings and weekends (8 on, 4 off)
- To have the necessary personal support networks available to assist you in working the above roster
- Experience working on machinery/vehicles through a hobby or work is highly regarded, but not essential
