**Job summary**

The Subcontractor Manager for Snowy develops the subcontracting strategy for the on-site erection of the Electrical & Mechanical scope (Turbine, Generators, Hydraulic Steels Structures, Balance of Plant - Electrical and Balance of Plant Mechanical) in coordination with Purchasing Field Service, Commercial Management and Project Director. They will execute all relevant procurement steps up to signing subcontracts in accordance to the purchase and compliance guidelines of our company.

At site, they will be responsible to manage the subcontractors and its interfaces to perform the subcontracted erection packages safely and within schedule, quality requirements, and contract obligations. Will act as the prime person of contact towards erection subcontractors and coordinates all related tasks.

The subcontractor manager also in coordination with the Claim Manager and Commercial Manager will play an important role regarding claim management towards the subcontractors of Voith and main contractors.

The Subcontract Manager will be located initially in Cooma and as soon as site operation and subcontractors start to initiate its activities at site, they will be required to be full time located at site. They will be part of the project team reporting to Commercial manager who will be based in Cooma and in a matrix reporting line he will also report to General Site Manager when located at site.

**Key Responsibilities**

During the site planning phase (off-site)
- Develop erection subcontracting strategy and division of scope for on-site erection of E&M portion (Turbine, Generators, Hydraulic Steel Structures, Balance of Plant - Electrical and Balance of Plant Mechanical)
- Coordinate and execute the subcontracting (procurement) process for large erection packages from a technical and contractual perspective (i.e., from creation of relevant request for quotation (RfQ) documents, identification of key providers, assessment and comparison of quotations, negotiations up to contract signature)

During the site execution phase (on-site)
- General
- Act as Voith’s primary point of contact for subcontractors
- Ensures mobilization of subcontractor as per schedule and IR requirements
- Work supervision:

- Ensure subcontractor work is executed as per business and project priorities (HSE, quality, schedule, and budget) and contractual requirements are fulfilled. Identify and document deviations
- Coordinate work planning with all subcontractors and own supervisors
- Issue non-compliance-reports (NCR) to subcontractors
- Monitor activities and progress / performance of subcontractors
- Review progress reports (HSE, quality, schedule, and budget) from Subcontractors against own assessment, identify risks and opportunities, develop mitigation plan, escalate critical issues
- Interface with IR manager in regard to the tasks that might be necessary to proper manage the subcontractor site personal resources in order support site operation and resources of Voith and subcontractors
- Contract supervision:

- Coordinate change management process and manage claims with the subcontractors
- Approve timesheets, progress, and invoicing monitoring performance of subcontractor / productivity (considering local conditions including IR)
- Manage weekly meetings with subcontractors (progress, performance, risks and opportunities, contractual issue review, invoicing, etc.) and issue minutes of meeting and drive agreed actions.
- Obtain and maintain all relevant subcontractor documentation as per the contract.

**Education**:

- Engineering degree (Civil or Mechanical)
- Project Management degree (MBA, P. Eng. or similar)

**Skills**
- HSE and Quality Mindset
- High level of experience in procurement of large E&M erection packages in the field of large construction projects
- Experience in Australian market on subcontractor management is desirable
- Experience in Construction and/or E&M is required
- Contractual and commercial skills, education and/or experience is desirable
- Previous demonstrated experience in management of subcontractors at site
- Sound contract knowledge and demonstrated experience in change order management
- Sound technical and operational knowledge of hydro-power equipment installation and commissioning
- Being customer and people oriented, accountable and solution driven
- Team player with strong leadership, coordination, and project management skills
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in English; due to the international team set-up additional languages are beneficial
