**About the Role**

An exciting opportunity to be part of our Santos’ Projects Division for Upstream Onshore Development Team. This role will report to the Project Services Manager and is based in our Brisbane office.

This position’s primary objective is to manage the delivery of all cost control related activities, required to support accurate, consistent, and insightful CAPEX and OPEX management for the Onshore Drilling and Completions Team.

Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS). Key responsibilities of the role include:

- Manage the delivery of all cost control activities including, overhead distribution, project accruals, cost allocation reviews, earned value and value of work done analysis.
- Manage the trend identification, endorsement, and notification process, required to ensure accurate CAPEX and OPEX LE within broader program and project reporting.
- Drive and maintain cost tracking accuracy to within acceptable parameters through continuous review and feedback to the engineering team.
- Perform the primary interface role between Onshore D&C and Finance
- Ensure team-based alignment to and compliance against the Onshore D&C management and audit standards (including the cost estimation guideline and cost control guideline).
- Ensure adherence to endorsed cost, operating and work breakdown structures to enable direct comparability across the Onshore Upstream portfolio.
- Oversee AFE, project funding requirements and budget control points, interfacing pro-actively with the Finance team.
- Facilitate business process audits to assess strength of internal controls; implement improvements where gaps and shortfalls are identified.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of overarching cost control guidelines, methodologies, and papers to ensure remit standardisation, efficiency, and adherence to JOAs.
- Building relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment across budget, scope, and execution outcomes.
- Mentor and engage team members to drive change and continuous improvement mindset.
- Sharing relevant business analysis and lessons learnt with the wider Cost Control & Planning teams.
- Providing ad-hoc reporting and scenario analysis as required.
- Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS).
- Compliance with the Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA).
- Compliance with the Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.

**About You**
- Extensive experience in project services or business services.
- Demonstrated experience in the oil and gas (or other major resource) industry in leadership roles.
- Direct responsibility for managing budgets of more than A$250m p.a.
- Proficient in the use of visualisation software (e.g., TIBCO Spotfire, Power BI) and Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
- Proficiency in the use of large ERP systems.
- Managing, motivating, and leading teams of professionals.
- Experience supporting non-financial operational personnel, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to key stakeholders and senior management.
- Exposure managing and distilling large, complex data sets with a heightened attention to detail.

Ideally, you are degree qualified in accounting, commerce, engineering or equivalent and demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment.
