**Your Function**:
As a Finance assistant, you will eventually have responsibilities across a broad range of Finance functions including Treasury, Financial and Regulatory reporting, Taxation, and Accounting. There will be phasing in process to manage priorities making sure there is guidance for your time management. Over time, you will be providing Operational and functional support to Team leaders of these functions with responsibilities in the following:
Treasury
- Assist Treasury & External Reporting Accountant in preparing the monthly funding process including asset & liability reconciliation, GAP analysis and all Treasury related reporting, funding requests ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all Treasury related data.
- Keep interest rate trend analysis and market information up to date and using this data for sensitivity analysis and planning.

External Reporting
- Assist Treasury & External Reporting Accountant in preparing the separate and consolidated annual financial statements of the local entities, including disclosures for the Parent Bank’s Group financials statements.
- Prepare reports and survey forms for lodgement with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Statistics New Zealand (Stats NZ).
- Assist in interpreting and implementing new accounting standards (IFRS/AASB) and related Group Accounting Policies.

Taxation
- Assist Taxation Manager in preparing multiple Australian and New Zealand corporate tax returns.
- Preparation and submission of FBT returns, Payroll tax returns, BAS and monthly PAYG instalments.
- Periodic tax effect accounting.
- Building tax knowledge through technical updates and providing business with taxation guidance.
- Tax Governance projects and controls testing.

General Finance Tasks
- Participate in Risk & Control activities including Control documentation and testing.
- Other Accounting tasks that may be reasonably required by the business from time to time.

**Your Profile**:

- **[External Reporting]** Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in preparing statutory financial reports including consolidated financial statements, with regulatory reporting experience desirable.
- Degree in Finance/Accounting or related area, with / or working towards CA or CPA qualification highly desirable.
- Sound grasp of general accounting principles and financial accounting.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; ability to confidently analyse large data sets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Possesses high level of accuracy, with strong problem-solving skills and passion for continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage time effectively, work independently and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic business.
- Willingness to assist outside of normal duties when required by the business.

This role is a great entrance point into a Corporate Finance role with broad responsibilities and career progression opportunities in a growing company. The Finance function is undergoing a digital transformation journey and you will be part of that journey. Your reporting line will be into the Treasury and External Reporting Accountant, but you will also have tasks which will fall under the responsibility of the Taxation manager and Business Controller.
