**The Opportunity**

Our **Product Prototyping and Evaluation team** at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility are looking for a **Materials Evaluation Metallurgist**to join the team

The Australian Steel Products portfolio has six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

In this essential role, you will work with our existing products and new product developments through continued technical assessments, guidance and support. This hands-on role will assist in the delivery of breakthrough improvement outcomes through testing, extensive evaluation and analysis of results. Within this role, you will gain exposure to, and experience across, a wide range of business functions including technical, operational, project, administrative and systems.

**What Will You Do?**

Ensuring the compliance of our new and existing products to their key value propositions, you will resolve issues and identify opportunities through thorough evaluation and testing. You will also:

- successfully contribute to a safe working environment
- conduct laboratory-based testing with our products
- prepare and conduct performance assessments and testing of our products
- analyse and evaluate your findings and contribute to enhancing our product technology and quality
- develop, maintain and enhance relationships with external and internal customers

**More About You**

You will bring your passion and commitment to technical expertise, attention to detail, problem solving skills and your commitment to safety, quality and innovation. You will bring:

- tertiary qualifications in Engineering/Science **or** relevant industry experience
- knowledge of laboratory operation, systems and documentation including safety and quality
- experience in designing and executing experiments, and recording your findings
- a technical acumen with the ability to translate technical information into value-add business outcomes with the ability to present and communicate your results
- exposure or knowledge of surface metrology, mechanical testing, welding, steel, metallic-coated steel, or pre-painted products
