**Your Purpose**:
The Underwriting Managers role is to run the day-to-day operational function of a State Product Underwriting team.

This role manages team performance to maximise effectiveness in a dynamic environment, obtains customer insights to support the team in delivering exceptional customer service, collaborates with other teams, removes blockages to performance, escalates and resolves issues and identifies opportunities to simplify processes. Developing capability, improving overall performance and providing support and guidance toward career pathways for Underwriters is a key focus

The Underwriting Manager will lead a team that delivers to the Commercial Product Portfolio strategy and executes a program of work focussed on delivering the targeted Insurance Trading Result (ITR) for the Liability Insurance Product across individual state portfolios. Executing and monitoring product underwriting strategies, customer retention and acquisition strategies and managing product workflow within and across teams.

When licenced with a Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) - underwrite new and renewal business and referrals from underwriters within the scope of the individual DUA

The Underwriting Manager in collaboration with Distribution colleagues grows and develops key intermediary relationships, delivers exceptional customer service, and helps facilitate multiline opportunities.

- Actively develop, coach, engage and motivate team members to drive results and continue to create a high performing team
- Work as part of a strong cohesive leadership team to create the best outcomes for Commercial Underwriting, C&I and Suncorp
- Contribute to the culture of the leadership team and cultivate a team environment that encourages people to perform at their best, balancing productivity, quality and compassion
- Create a plan to drive performance of the team and deliver team results against the State plan and the Commercial Portfolio Product Strategy
- Manage team performance to deliver against plan objectives and actions and achieve Insurance Trading Result (ITR) targets.

**What you will bring**:

- Experience leading a team
- Preferably approx 10 years of product underwriting experience
- Demonstrated abilities to lead and engage a broad range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to influence in the Intermediated commercial insurance market to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
