Reconciliation Officer

**About the Role**
As the Reconciliation Officer the primary purpose of this position is to reconcile and investigate outstanding items in the bank’s General Ledger and suspense accounts as well as preparing settlement and reconciliations for the group’s payment clearing streams.
Day to day you will responsible for reconciling, investigating and reviewing reconciliations relating to BOQ branch operations and involves the preparation of general ledger vouchers and journals.
The role is also responsible for the preparation of reconciliations relating to various areas of BOQ Group, including but not limited to myBOQ, VMA (Virgin Money Australia), BOQ Specialist, BOQ Finance, Treasury, Banking Operations and Financial Accounting.
Key responsibilities include:
- The daily balancing of settlements between BOQ Group and Other Financial Institutions
- The daily and monthly reconciliation of the group’s various General Ledger and suspense accounts across BOQ Group, BOQ Finance, VMA and BOQ Specialist
- The reconciliation and review of the branch network’s daily summary of business
- Ability to identify and resolve general ledger related issues on a timely basis
- To review suspense account activity performed by the branch network and head office within a structured task rotation setting so as to isolate and correct any irregularities which may have occurred
- The investigation of errors relating to balancing and remediation of these errors through quality communication
- Liaising with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve inefficient or outdated processes in line with group strategy and internal policy
**About you** Experience**
- Branch or back office role in a Banking environment (2yrs +)
- Proven ability - Account reconciliation / balancing experience
- Computer based work environment (including extensive use of Microsoft Excel)
- Internal and/or external customer contact
- Working efficiently to deadlines
- Accounting or reconciliation software highly preferred
**Knowledge & Competencies**
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to reconcile high transaction volume accounts
