**About the Role**
The Manager Planning and Impact Assessment plays a key role in the organisation by providing leadership and expertise that ensures the EPA’s input and influence on South Australia’s planning system considers the objects of the _Environment Protection Act 1993_, s25, general environmental duty, relevant environment protection policies, and the state’s waste management strategy in a strategic, credible manner.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Managing the EPA’s environmental assessment of complex development proposals, including projects of major significance to the state, within prescribed statutory timeframes and in accordance with relevant environment protection legislation and policies.
- Engaging with and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, including other government departments, and effectively communicating evidence-based and scientific, risk-based, arguments and information into the planning system.
- Optimising the environmental integrity and impact of statewide projects, programs by balancing the needs of the community, government and industry, together with ensuring social and inter-generational equity in the protection of people and the environment.
**About Us**
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is South Australia’s independent environment protection regulator. The organisation works to protect, restore and improve the environment through the risk-based regulation of pollution, waste, noise and radiation. The EPA works closely with industry, the community and government to protect the unique natural environment while supporting economic growth and improving wellbeing. The EPA is responsible for the administration of the _Environment Protection Act 1993_ (EP Act) and the _Radiation Protection and Control Act 2021_ (RPC Act) and also exercises responsibilities under other South Australian planning and environmental legislation.

**Desirable Qualifications**
- Degree in planning, science, engineering, natural resources or equivalent. **_(Essential for PO stream classification)_**.
- Postgraduate qualification in planning or environmental management.
**Remuneration**
MAS3 ($127,859) or PO5 ($124,449- $130,253 per annum) + 11.5% super added to your choice of super fund.
