Training of specimen reception duties for all new Pathology Queensland staff across the group including the CSR team, other staff or students as required to achieve 24-hour CSR competencies.
All coordinators support the manager's strategic directions for CSR and can be asked to move between these duties as required.
The role is primarily day shift however staff will be required to work shifts which may include overnight.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in pre-analytical processes, e.g. sorting, coding, data entry, aliquoting, parcel management, troubleshooting etc, in a large and complex specimen reception unit.
- Proven ability to deliver training both at a personal and group level, using multiple platforms and delivery methods.
- Proven ability to influence and support staff in their learning demonstrating positive outcomes as an indicator of success.
- Proven ability to work independently, solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
- Experience dealing with a variety of people and a high level of awareness of the impact the individual has on the overall customer experience.
- High level leadership skills and a demonstrated willingness to succeed and supervise cohesively with the all-team members.
- Sound understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification

- A requirement of this role will be to participate across a 24-hour shift roster as required depending on operational needs.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Nil mandatory qualifications are required for this role. Certificate III Pathology (or similar), Certificate IV Training Assessment, successful completion of Train the Trainer, or ability to gain these qualifications is desirable.
- The Central Core Laboratory delivers a 24 hour, 7-day service. In this workplace, all newly appointed Specimen Reception staff may be required to work all shifts which may include overnight. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements in the Core Laboratory to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.
