Allied Health Assistant

**The Opportunity**

We are looking for **full time and casual Allied Health Assistants** to join our team at Mark Moran Little Bay, responsible for providing excellent, evidence-based care across our Retirement and Aged Care settings. This role will be working under Physiotherapist supervision and tasks will include:

- Run residents exercise classes including general exercise, and falls and balance classes.
- Actively participate in the organisation and implementation of therapy programs
- as prescribed by the Physiotherapist
- Promote therapy acceptance by residents.
- Promote independent eating and drinking by residents.
- Ensure residents have effective pain management.
- Encourage and teach residents to maintain independent skills in daily living activities.
- Demonstrate the provision of care that promotes physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual well-being.
- Demonstrate therapeutic care and empathy to residents in a manner that brings comfort, pleasure as well as physical benefits.
- Assist in outings or appointments where residents have mobility deficits.
- Record and document changes in ambulation and care required for individual residents in their progress notes and discuss same with the Physiotherapist

- Aged Care rehabilitation experience.
- Gerontology experience desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to set up and run physiotherapy programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to work independently and as a team.
- Caring and compassionate attitude.
- Good organisation and time management skills.
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (strongly recommended)

Key to success in the position of Allied Health Assistant is the ability to be proactive, self-driven and competent in managing their time effectively coupled with the ability to be adaptive and flexible to the changing needs of residents.

- 8 hour shifts (8:00-4:00pm)
- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- Allied Health: 1 year (preferred)
- Previously worked in an Aged Care environment (Recommended)

Licence/Certification:

- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Physiotherapy) (Strongly Recommended)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (preferred)

**Salary**: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
