**THE ROLE**

The Solicitor, Legislation and Policy, along with other team members, will work closely with the Managing Principal Solicitor in providing legislation services to the department. In this role, you will be required, with mínimal supervision, to assist in providing sound legal and legislative advice and services on a broad range of matters across the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

Legal issues will mainly be focussed on the department's portfolios and legislation projects including the development of Bills, regulations, and other statutory instruments.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**
- Provide advice on complex legal, legislation and policy issues and provide high level briefings and correspondence.
- Collaborate with departmental colleagues to deliver high quality client focused legal and legislation services in relation to complex and sensitive matters.
- Prepare briefs and instruct counsel and contracted solicitors on complex and sensitive matters.
