Advance Thinking are a boutique consultancy with a great network of clients across many industries.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Analyst for our financial services client. As a Data Analyst you will be working with internal customers to fulfil their reporting requirements. This includes regular and ad-hoc executive and business performance reporting.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Produce a range of accurate and timely reports as required, accompanied with actionable insights that influence business decision-making.
- Liaise with Technology in relation to data availability, management, validation, and integrity.
- Provide hands on support in building and refining reports.
- Analyse data using statistical or machine learning approaches.
- Work with team members, and internal and external stakeholders to develop an effective and efficient reporting suite.
- Participate constructively in regular meetings and strategic projects such as building the foundation for Business Intelligence, i.e., Data Warehousing, Data Dictionary, Business Glossary, Transformation rules, etc.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company's products and services.
- Attend training as required in accordance with People & Culture policy.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- To work collaboratively with other areas and their personnel at the company.
- To meet individual and department goals.
- Conduct all business in compliance with all codes, standards, and legislative requirements and company policies and procedures.
- Ensure data practices are ethical and follow industry practice.
- To provide an efficient, honest, and fair service to both internal and external customers.
**Key Qualifications and Experience**
- Degree-level qualification or higher in a business, information analytics or IT related discipline.
- Experience as a data analyst in a corporate or consulting setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of financial services products and systems. Prior experience in the customer owned banking industry would be well-regarded.
- Understanding of the finance industry and its regulatory environment such as privacy laws and risk assessment.
- Experience developing data visualisations and dashboards to support decision making and the communication and analytical outputs.
**Skill Requirements**:
- Knowledge of data models, databases, and data warehousing.
- Knowledge of relational databases.
- Proficient in the use of database and data reporting tools (such as Power BI).
- Familiarity with reading and writing SQL.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Good numeracy and statistical skills.
- MS Office Skills, especially advanced Excel skills.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail.
- Business Acumen.
- Professional Interpersonal Skills.
- Understanding of Process Management - requirements, documentation, and implementation.
- Flexibility & ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a diverse team.
- Time Management.
- Effective written communications.
- Problem solving skills.
You must be based in Melbourne and able to attend the Melbourne CBD Office 2-3 days a week.
