The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Casual Specialist Family Violence Practitioner, reporting to the Family Violence Team Leader. You will provide specialist family violence case management support to women and children who have experienced and/ or are currently experiencing family violence. The role also encompasses the delivery of assessment and crisis response to adult and child victim-survivors in the 24/7 refuge or in crisis accommodation. This role will be positioned within the Refuge and Afterhours Crisis Response teams of the Victorian North West Family Violence Programs.

You will successfully
- Build effective relationships with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care
- Provide case management and crisis support to clients in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice
- Conduct ongoing assessment is made of the victim survivor’s issues, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit
- Develop Individual case plans in collaboration with victim-survivors and include a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of clients
- Implement case plans and actively led by the victim-survivor
- Provide victim-survivors with to access holistic support services and establish community connections, and where needed are assisted through advocacy with service providers
- Regularly monitor and review individual case plans of victim-survivors at the refuge and take action where needed to meet client needs or goals
- Provide immediate and other relevant needs of the adult and child victim-survivors in crisis accommodation are supported
- Work collaboratively with referring organisations to provide crisis support for adult and child victim-survivors

You will have
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work is essential.
- Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable.
- Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
- Demonstrated case management experience and skills
- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision required
- Advanced computer skills including experience in data and record management
- A current Working with Children's check
- A willingness to undergo a National Police check
