- Why this role matters
- The Salvation Army North-West Family Violence Programs (the Program) in Victoria works with adult and child victim survivors who have experienced or are experiencing family violence. The program provides a welcoming and accessible environment that is safe and supportive to individual needs. The Program is committed to ensure that it is inclusive and sensitive to the needs of individuals from all backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders; people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex; people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities; and people with a disability. The North-West Program is made up of three specialist FV case management teams in the North, West and Barwon; the FV refuge team; and the Afterhours Crisis and Transition Support Team in the North.

About the role
- We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Casual Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to provide outreach crisis response and support to victim survivors in crisis accommodation who have experienced and/ or are currently experiencing family violence. The role also encompasses the delivery of assessment and crisis response to adult and child victim survivors in the TSA refuges and FV residential units. The role will be in instrumental in delivering high quality, safe and effective family violence and child well-being responses to those seeking support, safety, and recovery.

You will successfully- Work with service users from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of women and children-
- Effective relationships that encourage self-determination and participation; and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care are established with victim survivors-
- Case management and crisis support is provided to victim survivors in accordance with TSA case management models and standards of practice-
- Support ongoing assessment of the victim survivor’s risks, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit in coordination with the other SFV Practitioners in the team-
- Receive, triage and prioritise after-hours referrals, primarily from the state-wide 24/7 crisis service but also from other specialist violence services in the North, the Police and Hospitals-
- Provide face to face support and assistance to victim survivors in emergency accommodation-
- Facilitate placement of victim survivors in emergency accommodation where assessed as required-
- Purchase material aid from shops and drop the items off to victim survivors accommodated in EA-
- Work closely with the Long-Term Refuge (LTR) team to provide specialist FV case management and transition support for the client’s in LTR-
- Provide afterhours support for clients in LTR and on-call support for clients in other TSA FV residential properties in the North- This casual role will be positioned within the Victorian North West Family Violence Programs. The role requires you to be available on-call over the 24-hr period during weekends and public holidays; and between end of shift and 9am (next day) as per roster during weekdays to respond to requests for support. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.

You will have- A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent formal learning*-
- Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable-
- Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work is highly desirable-
- Demonstrated case management experience and skills-
- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision required-
- Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management-
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check-
