**About the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations**

**The Role**
Reporting to the Media Director, the Assistant Director, Media will support the Media Team to deliver consistent, quality and timely media advice, materials and services.

The Media team plays a critical role in supporting Ministerial Offices, the Executive and policy and program areas in the effective communication of portfolio policies, programs and outcomes.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the EL1 may include:

- Working with internal stakeholders and our Ministers’ offices to develop proactive media opportunities for our portfolio
- Responding promptly, accurately and effectively to media enquiries
- Preparing media materials, including media releases, talking points, speeches, advice, strategies and plans, and other products as required
- Managing and leading staff.
- Qualifications and Education
- A degree in communications, journalism, media marketing or related field, and/or at least 5 years’ experience relevant to this role.
