IT Consultant

CONTAX Australia is hiring a new IT consultant to join our SAP Basis team in Melbourne.
**Job Description**:
SAP Basis consulting is mainly about making life as uneventful as possible for our clients when it comes to their SAP workloads and cloud infrastructure. This is true of normal SAP operations as well as when maintenance and innovation tasks are being performed on the landscape. When the basis team is performing well, the end users don't even notice that they're there. The system just runs.
While this is our goal, we understand that things don't necessarily work that way all the time. Because issues can occur periodically, part of this role also requires being available for on-call duty on holidays and weekends. Since CONTAX has a globally distributed team with resources in North America and Europe in addition to our team in Australia, on-call hours are expected only during daytime - which means not having to get out of bed to field a call. We rotate on-call responsibility within the CONTAX Australia Basis team on a regular schedule.
Here are some things we've worked on recently that should give you a sense of what your day-to-day might look like:

- Quarterly Early Watch Assessment of all clients in order to identify potential proactive fixes
- System health checks for customer production environments
- Migration of SAP workloads from on-premise datacenter to AWS
- Coordination with clients regarding newly released security patches to resolve a newly published vulnerabilities
- Performing support pack upgrade for a customer landscape (DEV/QAS/PRD)
- Fielding misc. support requests via ticketing system

**Requirements**:
This is an entry-level position, so there are no prerequisites, though a passion for IT systems and computers and a robust knowledge thereof are important. Familiarity with system administration, scripting, and cloud computing tools/methodology would be beneficial.
You might have a university degree in CS or engineering, but if you don't, that's not a deal-breaker. We are looking for strong communication skills and a track record of accomplishing difficult and complex tasks in both individual and team settings.
