**Media Production Officer**

**ABOUT THE POSITION**:
This position manages the specialist imaging requirements of complex projects by delivering highly innovative, creative, and technical imaging solutions for Museums Victoria's collections and experiences, both onsite and beyond. Supporting the implementation of Museums Victoria's One Digital Life strategy and Strategic Plan 2025-2030, the role is accountable for providing a range of specialist imaging and production services-particularly in 3D imaging and photography-that contribute to the delivery of exceptional exhibitions, publications, programs, websites, and the access and preservation of the State Collections.

**Some of the key duties include**:**
- Provide a range of specialist digital imaging services, including but not limited to; studio photography involving complex studio lighting techniques, field and location photography, focus stacking, microphotography, photogrammetry, 3D scanning and video production involving the handling of rare and sensitive material to meet the requirements of a demanding and varied client base.
- Manage imaging projects either discreetly, or as part of bigger projects, such as the imaging/photography aspect of an exhibition, collections/scientific research, publication or web component, and negotiate with staff, stakeholders and suppliers.
- Ensure digital assets and associated metadata is accurately recorded and archived using the appropriate systems, including Helpdesk, Adobe Bridge, MV Images and EMu.
- Engage in technical and practical problem solving relating to advanced photographic techniques.
- Maintain departmental imaging equipment, ensuring that all equipment is stored and in excellent operational condition, arrange maintenance as required and ensure that all electrical equipment is maintained in accordance with OH&S requirements.
- Communicate digital imaging concepts and requirements effectively to museum colleagues and provide advice to the Manager, Photography and Imaging, and General Manager, Digital Life on technical matters in photography and digital imaging as required.
- Comply with Museums Victoria's policies and procedures and with relevant legislation and regulations.

**The successful applicant will have**:

- Extensive experience in photography and the use professional digital imaging systems, related workflows and maintaining colour managed environments, with a demonstrable ability to produce very high-quality work.
- A thorough knowledge of photography and advanced lighting and imaging techniques used in the capture of cultural heritage material, a diploma or degree in photography or 3 years practical experience in cultural institutions would be desirable.
- Experience in the use of 3D scanning equipment and/or photogrammetry and associated software for the creation of 3D models.
- Highly developed skills in the use of computers and related software packages used in digital production workflows.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work with minimum supervision, and the ability to work as a member of a team.
- Experience in handling rare objects for photographic purposes, and knowledge of the conservation and curatorial requirements of museum artefacts.
- The successful applicant is required to undergo a National Police Records Check.

**OTHER INFORMATION**

This role is Fixed-Term, Full Time position until 31st January 2026. The salary on offer is $74,580 pro rata + 11.5% Superannuation.
