**Federal Government client** is seeking to engage a
**Media and Speechwriting Officer** on a contract for 12 months with high potential for extension.

**About the Role**

The

You will relish the challenge of operating in a complex and changing environment. Your media and speechwriting skills will be complemented by sound judgement, resilience and integrity. The position is expected to perform in a fast-paced environment under limited direction to undertake complex work.

**Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to**:

- Managing relationships and building strong networks and connections with internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on journalists, the Minister's office and senior stakeholders.
- Producing media and other communications products, including media releases, talking points and media plans to support announcements.
- Drafting strategic, targeted and tailored speeches for the Minister in diverse forums.
- Identifying proactive opportunities for the department spokespeople and/or the Minister for the Agency to engage with media.
- Analysing media sentiment and data, and interpreting results to further strategic engagement.
- Undertaking a wide variety of general tasks as required, including but not limited to, managing team priorities, providing support for reporting, analytics and executive reporting and presentations.

**Key skills required for the role**:

- Demonstrated experience in media, communications or journalism.
- Relationship management and building networks and connections with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience developing media and other communications products, including media releases, talking points and media plans to support announcements.
- The ability to work with senior stakeholders and tailor communications accordingly.

**Desirable skills for the role**:

- The ability to analyse media data and interpret results to further strategic engagement.
- Experience working in a fast-paced team environment to develop strategic media, issues and reputation management approaches.
- The ability to identify and implement proactive media opportunities.
