**An excellent opportunity to manage a specialised microscopy facility at the Waite Campus, with a primary focus on plant microscopy and related fields.**
We are seeking a dedicated Manager to oversee a specialised microscopy facility at the Waite Campus, with a primary focus on plant microscopy and related fields. This role involves providing advanced consulting and laboratory services, including expert training, assistance, and guidance in the use of advanced light microscopy, electron microscopy and associated sample preparation systems as well as supporting the acquisition, processing and analysis of microscopy data to enable high-quality scientific outcomes. The Manager will collaborate closely with researchers, students, and external clients, offering advice on experimental methodologies and developing tailored work programs to support their research needs. Operating with broad direction, the Manager plays a key role in developing and refinement of imaging methods, ensuring the microscopy capabilities evolve in line with the needs of the research community.
**To be successful you will need**:
- Demonstrated skills with method development of light microscopy as applied to plant and animal tissue down to the cellular level with emphasis on the use of fluorescent tags to highlight features or processes in the samples.
- Sound knowledge of, and proven experience with, optical microscopes and their imaging modalities, advanced light microscopy and electron microscopy.
- Demonstrated skills with advanced image analysis packages and associated 3D reconstruction software.
- High level interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral with the ability to work collaboratively and engage with a diverse client base
Qualification/s:
PhD demonstrating extensive experience in using advanced microscopy equipment. Experience in managing advanced microscopy equipment and/or a PhD in plant science is also desirable.
