Your Role
- As a Survey Technician your duties will involve provision of collecting and recording survey data, performing office calculations/reductions of field surveys and drafting of survey plans.

**Responsibilities**:

- Take measurements and collect information using high tech equipment
- Analyse survey data and make calculations
- Draft Plans and plot data using survey computer software
- Set Out reference points for construction activities
- Liaise with various project stakeholders including; clients, consultants and relevant authorities
- Utilise cutting-edge technology such as terrestrial robotic total stations, GNSS receivers to provide 3D measurement. Explore the use of new technology such as aerial drones & 3D scanners Liaison with authorities and utility agencies to obtain project approvals
- Ensure work output is of a technically high standard, meets client needs, and activities are commercially viable
- Adoption, promotion and adherence to the Orion’s Quality Management (QMS) and Work Health & Safety (WHS) Systems (e.g., Securities of Payment Act), and standard form contract
- Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgement in anticipating and solving project issues
- Provide drafting activities to provide drawing sets to Orion Standards
- Implementation of good practice, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to support the ongoing success of the business.
- Ensure quality control processes for each project are implemented and documented
- To be responsible for the security and condition of all survey equipment and for regular maintenance meets industry standards.
- Continually review and improve work methods and procedures where related to this position’s work activities in regard to best practice in environmental, quality and WH&S.
- Provide technical support to peers, as well as mentor junior staff to further develop knowledge base and assist in career progression
- The Company may change your duties from time to time to meet the requirements of the business at the discretion of the Director.

Skills and Expertise
- Diploma in Surveying
- Minimum 5+ years Surveying experience within land development
- Hold a Traffic Control/management certificate
- Hold a First Aid Certificate
- Possess a Class C Drivers License
- Current WH&S Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Form strong relationships with government agencies and can provide insight into gaining approvals
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills with experience dealing with clients and external organisations in a professional manner
- Demonstrated understanding and compliance with SWMS
- Continually review and improve work methods and procedures where related to this position’s work activities in regard to best practice in environmental, quality and WH&S.
- Ability to coordinate field staff, drafting activities and process field data
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
- Promote continuous improvement by reviewing processes in the delivery of survey services
- Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Excellent computer skills
- To be able to work both independently and as part of team environment
- Efficient time management skills to achieve project deadlines and budgetary constraints
- Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills
