The Project - Sydney Metro City South West (SMCSW)

The SMCSW is a new 30-kilometre metro line extending the tracks from the southern end of Sydney Metro North West at Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour through new CBD Stations and upgraded stations along the South West corridor to Bankstown.

MTR have been awarded the Operations, Trains & Systems package in Dec 2019 and commenced delivery of key rail systems & trains and now seeking for engineers to be part of this project.

About the role

The purpose of the position is to provide leadership and direction to the MTR Sydney Metro City South West project with regards to the Rail Safety Accreditation framework, HSEQ governance, SafeWorking and Worksite Protection processes to meet the Rail Infrastructure Network, Client and Principle Contractor obligations to provide a safe system of work and compliance with the Sydney Metro safety standard.

**Description**:
Responsibilities of the position

Maintain the MTR Rail Transport Operator Accreditation
Support the organisations Tender Team to ensure EOI with regards to Rail Safety and Accreditation requirements
Lead Rail Safety and SafeWorking business improvements to build a robust safety culture
Govern MTR AU’s adherence to all government Rail Safety Laws, Regulations and Rail Industry Rail Safety standards and guidelines, including RIM’s Network Rules and Procedures in all jurisdictions across Australia
Establish better practice annual strategies and initiatives aligned to contemporary industry practices
Provide enterprise wide and project specific leadership and advice regarding rail safety accreditation and SafeWorking

**Skills and Experiences**:
Experience

Minimum of 10 years in a Safety Governance role
Working knowledge of rail safety standards and processes
High level of influencing, interpersonal, consultation, relationship building and negotiation skills that build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships
Knowledge and understanding of heavy industry risk management standards, procedures, and practices
Capability to deploy a safety step change and deploy

Qualifications & Training

Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or equivalent field
Incident Causal Analysis Method or equivalent Statement of Attainment
Lead Systems Auditor Statement of Attainment
Construction - White Card
Drivers Licence

**Skills**:
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Excellent verbal and written communication
Organised and able to meet deadlines
Able to present Toolbox and Pre starts
