Forensic Officer

**The role of the Forensic Officer includes:
Delivering lifestyle and skills support for clients of the Forensic Disability Service and support clinical intervention / treatment programs. The support provided involves helping adults with offending behaviours, who have an intellectual disability to develop life skills, implementing treatment strategies and facilitating meaningful engagement in activities and opportunities to improve quality of life, reduce the risk of re-engaging in offending behaviours and increase opportunities for community reintegration.
Able to demonstrate a high level of verbal and written communication skills, in order to communicate effectively at all levels, including conflict resolution, as well as maintain accurate recordkeeping.
Maintain knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to your role.
Implement strategies within the client's positive behaviour support plan to improve quality of life and reduce behaviours of concern. Provide information to support the ongoing review and monitoring of behaviours of concern.
Promoting and modelling the use of evidence based, person centred approaches to work directly with individual clients in the facility and on escorted leave into the community. Forensic Officers are required to be lifelong learners who are able to keep abreast of current developments in forensic disability services and actively pursue professional development.
Maintaining an appropriate level of general health and fitness in order to undertake their duties. They must be capable of performing all physical requirements of the position including actively engaging clients in sport and recreation activities and if required providing physical assistance and employing physical intervention.
Performing continuous shift work across 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on rostered shifts (minimum 8hr shifts maximum 12 hr), which can involve a combination of morning, afternoon and active night shifts including weekends. Due to the nature of shift work the ability to convey important information to co-workers at the end of each shift and to work together is critical.
Understanding and managing the impact of shift work in a regulatory environment on their own physical and mental wellbeing and to incorporate shift work into their work / life balance. Demonstrate resilience in working in a demanding role.
