The DCS Insights and Data Accelerator (DIDA) program will enable DCS to realise the value of data in understanding customer’s needs and informing decisions that support better customer services, experiences, and outcomes.

Data.NSW aims to increase the safe use of data across NSW government in order to support data-driven decision making and deliver better outcomes for the people of NSW. Data.NSW encourages data collaboration and innovation across government, the NSW public and industry by providing a single search environment for NSW data assets. It will support better customer service, policy development, responsiveness and innovation.

**About the roles**

As a Data Governance Coordinator, you will be part of the data governance stream, responsible for harmonising data practices across DCS and developing and implementing standard, repeatable processes to simplify and streamline data sharing, access, and use. You will work with stakeholders to populate the DCS data product catalogue and ensure that data products are discoverable and accessible, while being appropriately protected in accordance with privacy, security and ethical policies and standards, and relevant legislation. You will empower DCS business units with end-to-end responsibility and ownership of data products within their domain.

You will work with the technical stream to support effective and scalable analytics delivery and increased access to self-service and user-friendly data products and advanced analytics services.

You will enjoy working in a complex and dynamic environment with different maturity levels, governance arrangements and practices. Your focus will be on uplifting data governance maturity and capability and harmonising and implementing good data practices across DCS and in line with the NSW Government Data Strategy and NSW Data Reform initiatives.

Apart of the NSW Data Analytics Centre (DAC). The DAC exists to lead a whole-of-government approach to data analytics, to tackle some of the State’s most difficult service and policy challenges. Powered by a multidisciplinary team of data specialists and the DAC’s Advanced Analytics Platform, the DAC works to connect data, people and insights to build world-class capabilities in whole-of-government data analytics to improve health and well-being, safety, social, economic and environmental outcomes for customers and the community.

**In this role, some of your key accountabilities may include**:

- Implement and maintain data governance standards and guidance, including metadata management in line with best practice methodologies, and industry recognised standards and processes and ensure consistency of use
- Create and maintain a register of data assets, investigate, and classify data across the organisation to develop a comprehensive inventory to support data set owners, and facilitate effective and consistent information and data governance practice across the organisation
- Maintain an understanding of customer/stakeholder requirements, priorities and challenges and contribute to the translation of them into measurable data governance solutions and services to accommodate the diverse requirements across the organisation

**To be successful, you will demonstrate**:

- A working knowledge of modern data governance practices and tools, including data catalogues, and experience in data management and protection
- Sound understanding of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends
- Key behaviours of an agile mindset, including trust, transparency, adaptability, continuous learning and collaboration
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to actively support data governance capability uplift across the organisation and NSW Government
- Proven skills and experience in all things data including managing data across the data lifecycle, analytics and reporting
