**Hours Per Week**: up to 16*
- Fractional appointments may be considered upon negotiation with the Chief Forensic Pathologist.

**What you'll be doing**
- To provide leadership and operational support in the triaging of apparent natural causes of death cases referred to the coroner. The Career Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for reviewing medical and other information received on natural cases referred to the coroner and providing a cause of death formulation on coronial certificates to ensure timely delivery of an integrated clinical and cost-effective service to deliver the best outcomes for grieving families and the wider community.

**Selection Criteria**
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Possess at least two (2) years of postgraduate experience in general clinical medical practice.
- Demonstrated clinical competency in reviewing medical information.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of clinical quality management, including participation in quality improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in the knowledge of the coroner’s act specifically pertaining to the appropriateness of referrals.
- Proven ability to work as a team member with effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and adaptability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated personal qualities, including motivation, initiative, time management and commitment to professional development.
- Proven ability to work with the deceased in an environment that could be distressing, ensuring to raise any associated concerns and/or need for support, adopting self-care strategies and promoting same for staff.
- Demonstrated capacity to adopt and model the NSWHP RITES values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence and Safety.

This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand _Policy Directive PD2022_030 Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against specified diseases_. All new recruits must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. New recruits must provide evidence against specified diseases and comply with the requirements of this policy at their **own cost **prior to appointment.

All staff employed by NSW FASS may be required to supply a reference buccal sample so that their DNA profile can be compared to other generated profiles to exclude the possibility of contamination.
