**About the Department of Education**

The Department of Education is Victoria's primary body responsible for delivering education services to children and young people across the state. The Department directly provides education through government schools and regulates early childhood services and non-government schools. With a focus on improving learning outcomes for all students, the Department is committed to ensuring equity, access, and excellence across the entire education system.

The Department works with schools, early childhood services, and educational providers to create a cohesive and inclusive education system that supports the development and well-being of every student. By collaborating with a range of stakeholders, including government agencies and the private sector, the Department delivers meaningful educational reforms that directly benefit Victorian communities.

At its core, the Department's vision is to provide a great education for every child and young person, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically and socially. This vision is supported by policies focused on excellence in learning, fostering lifelong learning, and ensuring that all students, no matter their background or circumstances, have the support they need to succeed.
