**The Role**
- Accountable to undertake security risk assessments and provide advice/ guidance on security controls within a deployed ICT context.
- Responsible for ensuring that all identified breaches in information security are promptly managed according to Defence policies and procedures.
- Understand the security features and capabilities of current Defence and industry accepted hardware and software products and provide advice to stakeholders.
- Use experience to explain systems security and the strengths and weaknesses that are relevant across Defence.
- Tailor communication style and language to provide guidance on security strategies to manage identified risks.
- Interpret security policy and contribute to the development of standards and guidelines that comply with Defence policy and procedures.
- Analyse and resolve identified security issues in accordance with established procedures and recommend any required actions.
- Lead the development of new policy and procedures for deployed ICT networks and conduct reviews of existing policy to ensure currency and compliance with stakeholders.
- Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
- Undertake the Unit Security Officer Ancillary Role.

**About our Team**
The Deployed-ICT directorate represents a unique convergence of Defence and technology expertise operating at the intersection of state-of-the-art deployed technologies and strategic defence initiatives. We provide direct support to our warfighters in the field, in the air, or at sea. Our focus encompasses a wide range of areas including the enhancement of critical cyber capabilities and the delivery of resilient fit for service ICT. Our organisational structure is a blend of Uniformed ADF personnel, APS members and contractors. Collaborating across various locations across the country, our key focus is to ensure that the end-user benefits from superior decision-making tools, systems and support. The Deployed ICT Security Team is small and diverse with a breadth of experience in ICT Security and Defence deployable systems. We provide security services and governance for the ICT utilised by the ADF. The team reports directly to the D-ICT Director and stakeholders in the services.

Deployed ICT (D-ICT) is the support organisation for the ADF deployed Information Communications Technology. D-ICT is responsible for the administrative systems that military personnel use to manage their lives and jobs. Security is a critical component of the service.
