**About the role**:
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Technician will be responsible for completing laboratory sampling and testing. To produce and manage finished product to the required specification in a safe and efficient manner and providing technical support in audits, innovation, instrument, investigation to the Refinery.

This is a great opportunity for a graduate who is highly interested in the petroleum industry and or experienced laboratory professionals.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Ensure incident free operations through the use of the Loss Prevention System (LPS)
- Perform sampling on the plant when required for Jet Fuel, Wastewater Treatment Plant, LPG, Test runs and process gas streams
- Perform testing and calibrations as per the prescribed method
- Comply with the requirement of the laboratory training systems to ensure thorough understanding of the testing undertaken in the laboratory
- Timely and accurate reporting of analytical results
- Report instrument breakdowns promptly
- Identifying improvement opportunities and initiatives in Laboratory process
- Participating in internal audits and writing/reviewing technical documents

**About you**:
You have demonstrated and proven success in laboratory analysis and instrument efficacy with a sound knowledge and understanding of laboratory testing methods, procedures and laboratory equipment.

You are highly safety focussed, self-motivated and display strong personal integrity and have a commitment to continuous improvement initiatives.

**Key skills and experience**:

- Tertiary Degree in Science, preferably majoring in Chemistry
- Analytical laboratory experience
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills
- Thorough understanding of laboratory equipment, test methods and procedures.
- Good communications skills (verbal and written)
- Strong IT and analytical skills
- Experience in Manufacturing Laboratory is desirable
