What is the focus of the role?

The Retail Technology Innovation Lead focuses on driving technological advancements and innovative solutions within the retail sector to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. This role involves identifying emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact, and integrating them into the retail environment. The lead collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cutting-edge retail technologies, such as AI, IoT, and mobile solutions, ensuring they align with business objectives and market trends. Additionally, the role requires staying abreast of industry developments, fostering a culture of innovation, and continuously seeking opportunities to leverage technology for competitive advantage and improved service delivery.

What You'll do
- Identify and evaluate emerging retail technologies to determine their potential impact and applicability within the organisation.
- Develop and implement innovative technology solutions to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of new technologies.
- Lead and manage technology projects from conception through to implementation, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging creative thinking and continuous improvement within the team.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and best practices to keep the organisation at the forefront of retail technology.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for technological advancements.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with technology vendors and partners to leverage external expertise and resources.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of implemented technologies, making adjustments as necessary to optimise outcomes.
- Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations to senior management on technology initiatives and their impact.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in the implementation of new technologies.
- Train and mentor team members to build their skills and knowledge in retail technology innovation.
- Manage the budget for technology innovation projects, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Drive the strategic vision for retail technology innovation, aligning it with the organisation's overall goals and objectives.
