PSP are exclusively recruiting this Safety Lead (Band 8) position on behalf of the Monash City Council.

Reporting directly to the Executive Manager People and Safety, the role sits within People and safety Branch, in the Executive People and Safety Division.

The positions key objectives include:

- The Safety Lead is responsible for delivering occupational health and safety (OHS) services across the organisation. This includes the delivery of organisational wide processes, systems and programs to ensure Monash City Council can achieve its safety commitment and legislative obligations. The role will participate in and contribute to key OHS committees, network forums and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- In addition, the Safety Lead will play an instrumental role in driving a culture of safety by making strategic links with core and operational practices and developing an OHS Work Plan that aligns with broader organisational strategies and objectives.
- The role will lead a small team of OHS professionals, including the WorkCover and Return to Work functions, and will guide, coach and support the team to ensure efficient and effective work approaches are in place. The role will also drive a continuous improvement ethos and lead change in alignment with the broader People and Safety vision

Essential Skills and Experience required:

- Substantial experience in a similar OHS/Safety role and leading a team
- Relevant tertiary qualification in OHS and substantial experience in a similar role
- Local government knowledge and experience is highly advantageous
- Demonstrated experience in leading a OHS/Safety portfolio including Workcover and Return to Work
- An ability to respond to key priorities as they arise while maintaining core operations
- Highly developed stakeholder management and relationship building skills
- An ability to flex operational detail with big picture thinking
- Exceptional team working and collaboration skills organisational wide
- An ability to thrive in a fast paced and complex work environment
- Exceptional analytical and report/policy writing skills
- An ability to manage competing priorities in a busy and solid workload environment
- Covid Vaccinations certificate and probity checks will be required.
