**About the Role**

The Work Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible in promoting safety attitudes, safe work practices and environments as well as managing, maintaining, and administering Arcare’s Work Health and Safety systems with the objective of minimising accidents and injuries.

This position is of a flexible status of either Full Time or Part Time, Based at Head Office Hampton East & travel to Arcare residences Victoria when required

**Skills and Experience**
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Work Health & Safety Coordinator in an Aged Care or Healthcare environment
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety desirable or minimum 2 years in a role
- Manual Handling Training (yearly, in house by allied health experts)
- Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation across Victoria and other States.
- Ability to promote and reinforce Work Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Ability to provide professional workplace injury prevention advice and support, to promote Arcare’s workplace safety culture
- Ability to deliver in-house training and/or information sessions in the areas of Work Health and Safety and Injury Prevention
- Ability to complete risk assessments, job safety analysis, and workplace inspections
- Proficient in the use of various electronic software systems and programs with experience in collating information and preparation of reports
- Well-developed communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact with employees, Health professionals and external government authorities promptly and courteously
- Current Drivers Licence and own comprehensively insured vehicle as travel is required

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**
- Provide guidance and support to managers to foster and promote a positive work health and safety culture with a focus on safety awareness and injury prevention;
- Support managers in evaluation of aggregate data from electronic safety software system to identify trends, develop reports and provide reasonable and sustainable recommendations to reduce accidents and incidents;
- Develop safety system reports nationally to promote a sustainable and progressive health and safety reporting system;
- Provide guidance and mentor support to Arcare Health and Safety Representatives with regard to general safety matters, environmental audits, hazard and incident investigation;
- Maintain national registers and ensure all HSR’s qualifications are up to date, assist with scheduling training process when nominees are elected;
- Coordinate and undertake work health and safety site audits or inspections and develop appropriate and proportionate recommendations, action plans and reports;
- From time to time assist with covering on call work;
- Where necessary, travel between sites to meet with key stakeholders as a means to actively participate in injury prevention coordination and promotion of Arcare’s Work Health and Safety systems;
