**About the Role**
Are you ready to shape the future of transport infrastructure through cutting-edge flood modelling and surface water engineering? We’re looking for a passionate and experienced **Associate Flood Modeller** / Hydrologist to join our high-performing **Bridges, Aviation & Roads (BAR)** team based in **Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast**.
This is your chance to work on some of Queensland’s most significant road, rail, and civil infrastructure projects, delivering innovative, sustainable, and resilient water solutions that make a real impact.
**What You’ll Do**
- Lead and deliver **surface water modelling** for major transport infrastructure projects.
- Undertake **flood impact assessments**, waterway assessments, and surface water modelling.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate **flood modelling and drainage design** into large-scale infrastructure planning.
- Prepare high-quality **technical reports**, manage project deliverables, and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a **collaborative, future-focused team culture**.
- Support proposal development and contribute to business growth across Queensland.
**About You**
You will have:
- A **Bachelor’s or Master’s degree** in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- ** At least 10 years’ experience** in flood modelling and surface water engineering for transport infrastructure. Experience in drainage design would also be looked upon favourably, but is not required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in tools like **TUFLOW, WBNM, RORB, HEC-RAS, XP-RAFTS, 12D, DRAINS, MUSIC**, and QGIS platforms.
- Strong knowledge of **ARR**, **TMR standards**, and **Austroads guidelines**. Experience with rail projects would also be beneficial to the role.
- Experience in CFD modelling and/or programming languages (e.g. python) is a plus, but not a requirement for the role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to flood impact assessments and waterway assessments for infrastructure planning and design.
- The ability to work across multiple office locations and projects if required.
- Experience working with **State road authorities** (e.g., TMR, TfNSW) is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
